Soal jawab masalah & agama yang tak relevan

Awal-awal aku bagi warning: Entri ni mungkin menimbulkan salah faham dan kontroversi. Terpulanglah pada penilaian masing-masing.

Sebenarnya dari dulu lagi aku dah perasan benda ni, cuma takde lagi sebab nak trigger aku untuk menulis mengenainya. Cuma baru-baru ni aku rasa macam terpanggil nak menulis sikit tentang hal ini.

Kalau kita baca mana-mana akhbar, kita pasti akan terbaca bahagian soal jawab masalah atau agama, yang dikendalikan oleh beberapa kaunselor atau ahli agama. Ini adalah sesuatu yang bagus kerana pembaca boleh mendapat ilmu dan kaedah untuk mengatasi beberapa masalah dikemukakan serta berpeluang berinteraksi dengan personaliti-personaliti terbabit.

Tetapi TAK SEMUA MASALAH DISELESAIKAN SECARA TEPAT.

Apsal aku cakap macam tu? Sebab kebiasaannya untuk menjawab soalan seumpama ini mukadimahnya terlalu panjang siap dengan dalil-dalil yang tak dikupas habis kemudian tergantung macam tu je. Dalam akhbar manalah ada cukup ruang nak jawab semua secara spesifik. Bagi jawapan tepat dan terangkan dengan dalil yang berkaitan jelah. Silap-silap yang bertanya jadi lebih keliru dan pembaca pun keliru, "eh, apa jawapan ustaz ni?"

Kita ambil contoh satu masalah agama:

Salam. Saya dan isteri kerap melakukan hubungan kelamin dan menurut tertib seperti yang dianjurkan agama. Persooalan saya ialah, apakah hukumnya melakukan hubungan kelamin dalam keadaan bogel? - H, Bangsar.

(Ini soalan yang aku pilih sendiri. Suka hati akulah, nak kongsi dengan you all jugak kan?)

Kalau dalam akhbar, "jawapan" tipikal ialah sebegini (lebih kurang):

Waalaikumussalam H,

Islam menganjurkan perkahwinan sebagai satu cara untuk menghalalkan fitrah kehendak lelaki dan wanita dalam menghasilkan zuriat... bla bla bla... kerana dalam Islam hubungan kelamin ialah satu... bla bla bla... rujuk pada ayat dan hadith... bla bla bla (dah sampai tiga kolum ni)... dan ending biasanya bunyi macam nak bagi penghakiman je.

Tak boleh ke bagi jawapan tepat serta sebabnya terus? Kenapa nak bercerita seolah-olah si pengadu tu bertanya soalan umum berkenaan seks sampai nak terangkan macam subjek Islamic Sexual Intercourse 101?

Kan bagus kalau jawapannya terus begini:

Waalaikumussalam H,

Hukum melakukan hubungan kelamin secara berbogel adalah dibolehkan. Hal ini dibolehkan berdasarkan yang berikut:

Prof Dr Abdul Halil Abu Syuqqah, sahabat Dr Yusof al-Qardhawi dari universiti Qatar menjelaskan kekeliruan umat Islam:

” …ramai yang faham jima’ (hubungan seks) hendaklah dilakukan dalam malam yang gelap gulita, jika jima’ di siang hari pula, hendaklah dilakukan dengan hanya membuka sedikit sahaja pakaian dan menutupi sebahagian besarnya, ada pula fatwa, tidak boleh memandang aurat satu sama lain dan hendaklah menjauhkan (mata) dari memandang alat kelamin masing-masing. Ini semua tidak disandarkan kepada dalil yang sahih. Sedangkan amalan ini bercanggah dengan keumuman nas-nas yang membolehkan:

” Dan orang-orang yang menjaga kemaluannya, kecuali terhadap isteri-isteri dan sahaya miliknya.” - AQT 23:5

Mafhum hadith:

”Jagalah kemaluanmu, kecuali terhadap isterimu dan budakmu.”

- al-Albani, sahih Sunan Abu Daud (3391)

Al-Hafidz Ibn Hajar meriwayatkan hadith dari Aisyah ra. Sulaiman bin Musa pernah bertanya Atha’ akan bagaimana seorang lelaki yang memandang faraj isterinya, lalu aku (Atha’) bertanyakan akan Aisyah, lalu Aisyah meriwayatkan bahawa dia dan RasuluLlah saw pernah mandi bersama-sama. (al-Fath, 1/378)

Maka jelaslah bahawa boleh rupanya pasangan saling melihat aurat masing-masing dan boleh melakukannya secara berbogel. Sekian.

Mudahkan begitu, beri jawapan "ya" atau "tidak" sebelum menerangkan sebabnya?

Ini bukan sekadar persoalan agama, tapi persoalan rumahtangga, ekonomi, sosial dan lain-lain pun sama. Aku menyentuh soal agama kerana ianya amat penting dalam kehidupan seharian kita.

Tak percaya, try tengok dalam akhbar... kiasan menyimpang jauh sebelum menjawab, kepala semakin kusut nak faham masalah yang sedia kusut meminta jawapan.

Prinsipnya sama macam kita bertanya soalan pada orang. Bila kita bertanya, kita mahukan jawapan "ya" atau "tidak" dulu, betul tak? Lepas tu baru kita bertanya sebab kenapa boleh atau tak boleh.

Mengapa demikian?

Pada hemat aku, bila aku bertanya dan menerima jawapan sama ada ya atau tidak, minda kita akan ditetapkan mengikut jawapan awal itu tadi. Lepas tu, kita akan bersedia untuk menerima maklumat tentang sebab jawapan itu diberikan supaya kita lebih faham dan bertindak sewajarnya.

Cuba tengok soalan mudah oleh seorang budak kepada bapanya ini:

Hari belum hujan lagi. Boleh tak adik nak main layang-layang kat luar?

Si ayah akan menjawab:

Boleh, tapi kalau hujan nak turun, cepat-cepat masuk ke rumah ya. Nanti disambar kilat.

Takkan si ayah nak jawab macam ni pulak kan:

Adik tahu tak eksperimen konduktor elektrik oleh Benjamin Franklin? Dia main layang-layang tengah hujan ribut lepas tu letak kunci kat tali layang-layang. Lepas tu kan dik, kilat menyambar layang-layang tu. Kalau adik nak rasa elektrik tu macam mana, adik mainlah, jadi macam Benjamin Franklin.

Bodoh bangang punya jawapan. Panjang lebar, mana budak tu nak faham.

Jadi pokok pangkalnya disini ialah, walau apa pun masalah berkenaan agama, sosial, rumahtangga dan sebagainya, berikanlah jawapan terus barulah terangkan sebabnya. Tak semua orang bijak dan faham.

Dan tak semua ruangan sebegini macam ni. Ada juga yang aku nampak bagi jawapan terus dan padat, sesuai dengan pembacaan para pembaca.

Ini pengamatan aku. Tak puas hati, meh aku jawab persoalan korang… nak jawapan terus ke jawapan berbelit-belit?

2012 Overture and Beyond

Hello and welcome Year 2012 AD!

Ini entri pertama aku tahun ni. Kalau tengok balik, sepanjang minggu ni semuanya baik je. Baguslah kan, takdelah nak emo macam haritu. Sesekali jantanlah sikit, ni tak asyik nak emo je.

Anyway, New Year celebration wasn't that I expected pun. Bukannya nak berhedonisme sakan setakat nak keluar tengok bunga api, gelagat orang dan gadis-gadis tu okaylah. Asal perancangan nak dinner date dengan someone tapi dia tak berapa nak sihat. Jawabnya aku dan another two friends merangkak ke Genting Highlands. Sejuk, bau getah brake dan traffic jam di puncak, kena parking jauh kat bawah then berjalan naik ke atas. Jalan-jalan akhirnya makan di McDonald's jugak! Entah apa-apa kan… tapi yang penting mencuci mata dan minda serta bank berdialog tentang our past and future. Kinda good reflections laa. Lepas tu siap tidur dalam kereta sampai nak subuh, sebab jalan masih berkabus tebal dan sesak sikit.

Dengarnya bunga api di KL dan serata dunia meriah. Memang aku suka bunga api.

Sebelum aku ke Melaka lewat hari Tahun Baru tu, aku buat sedikit catatan:

Day 1, 2012. A day where the life adventures for the best twelve months begins. A trip to Melaka for family gathering will be a nice wrap for the day. And a high water cannon salute to Emirates (EK) on their inaugural landing of their Airbus A380-800 fleet to KUL/WMKK. May the day spark the fire to guide we all to the excellence of endeavours.

Aku missed sesi pendaratan pertama pesawat Airbus A380-800 milik Emirates Airlines di KUL/WMKK! Siap ada water cannon salute lagi… aku tahu event tu cuma aku terbangun lambat sebab balik lewat kan. Melepaslah aku, just tengok gambar jelah kat MalaysianWings tu.

Tiga hari di Melaka dengan keluarga macam biasa menyeronokkan, walaupun tak ke mana-mana pun. Paling kuat aku hantar servis dan basuh kereta, lepas tu malam melepak di tepi pantai makan seafood. Panas tu jangan ceritalah tapi seafood by-sea with family is always nice.

Hari pertama kerja aku kelam-kabut kejutkan adik aku untuk siap ke sekolah. Oh, OK… masih cuti lagi. Teruknya saya. I dressed up and drove straight to work from Melaka, being working on afternoon shift. Kerja pun takde lagi, bergembira bersama rakan dan had a lunch date with my dear cousin.

At the end of the day, aku mencatat:

It's the first working day of 2012 and I bet some are still in holiday mood. No matter how one perceives, today has promised something good or positive in life, career, relationship, etc. Let us work hard and be productive for better performance and best interest to your organization. Together we strive to excel in our fields, and always remember to conclude your day with gratitude to the Almighty. Morphinomenal!

Aku take gemar guna perkataan "azam" kerana terlalu common. Justeru, aku lebih suka guna perkataan "hasrat" untuk tujuan penambah baikan dalam tahun 2012 ni. Antara hasrat dan aspirasi aku tahun ni adalah:

Pelaksanaan tugas secara lebih tersusun dan terurus
Menjadual, merancang dan memantau kerja dan perbelanjaan
Mengawal keboleh pasaran diri
Melakukan simpanan kewangan
Menaikkan jenama dan imej kendiri
Mencari girlfriend (OK, ini bukan main-main ya)

Bunyi macam pekeliling kerajaan. Tak kisahlah yang penting masing-masing ada tujuan hidup, kan?

So antara tujuan untuk merealisasikan hasrat aku tu ialah mengemas, mengatur dan menyusun meja kerja aku tu. Mungkin meja aku tak seperti The Resolute Desk of the President of the United States mahupun seperti terminal kawalan menara lapangan terbang, tapi yang penting mengemas tu memudahkan aliran tenaga positif untuk bekerja. Dan bila kerja mengemas ni, dah tentu banyak sisa industri dan benda yang tak sepatutnya ada. Memang de-cluttered habis, winter cleaning katakan…

Nah, bila dah kemas, bersih dan susun, barulah nampak mood nak kerja. Energy flow pun lancar. Ada akses ke server Crew GUYS, monthly planner (manual still rocks) dan kalendar meja siap ada Neelofa lagi (ehem!). Terasa semangat baru bekerja untuk hasil lebih memberangsangkan di tahun 2012 ni.

By the end of the day, aku menulis lagi:

Life is about living the choice you've decided. Rearrange, adjust and clean your residence and workstation, you'll be amazed as your life starts changing for the good. Do them and ye shalt not falter.

Sepanjang minggu pun ada macam-macam kerenah dan hal, seperti hal orang kita yang tak habis-habis menyibuk dengan kes si Amalina tu (pada aku, itu hak dia, janji dia tak lupa keluarga dan tamat belajar OK apa) dan terserlahnya kebodohan sesetengah badan kerajaan konon nak tunjuk pandai guna English tapi dikutuk dan diketawakan dengan penuh jayanya. Remember the "poke eye" joke?

Anyway, aku menutup minggu pertama 2012 dengan catatan ringkas:

It has been a productive Week One of 2012. With some restructuring of work procedures and station rearrangements, duties are carried out well. Hopefully something good for this weekend for everybody.

Indeed, it was a fun weekend with my dad and my adik angkat. Rumah dan dibersihkan dan cantik. Kena usaha lebih lagi untuk minggu mendatang!

The Past Twelve Months in 2011

The departing Gregorian year of 2011 has been a tremendous year from previously. There have been a lot of occasions, events and what's important was my 30th year of blessed life.

The past twelve months have witnessed my financial restructuring went on a good track with expectations to prosper for a secure and stable 2013 (yes, 2013). My accounts have been in good shape, which enabled me to save, travel and acquire some assets, which I cherished until now.

Meanwhile, my career is getting more established. There were many projects and tasks, but all were handled effectively. Plus, I was entrusted with some managerial duties, which I guess a good exposure for future career prospect.

Speaking of which, the Year of Rabbit (according to Chinese reckoning) also seen many improvements for my self-development and esteem. However, I am still hapless in finding a life partner, or a in other words, I'm still single and neglected.

Despite the prosperity and happiness, I will not forget this year as the year the family mourned over the death of my late grandmother, also the death of our dear friend in Australia which overshadowed our April. To them both, al-Fatihah.

Here's the retrospect of my 2011, selected from my Facebook status. Some stats may have photos, and some may not. It's easier to read and follow the events chronologically.

I will keep on writing empirically as I do best. For 2012, I hope much to find the love of my life and better opportunities.

You keep on painting with painful heart and dedication but still fail to impress. Then the canvas is torn, and the cycle goes on again and again, failure after failure. The canvas would become a classic once you are gone (lucky enough), but usually forgotten deep into despair.

Hmm.

Krismas tahun ini agak meriah jugaklah, tak sesedih tahun lepas. Aktiviti malam Krismas yang menarik dan juga membeli-belah memang menyeronokkan. Padahal the next day tu bangun lewat tak ingat, kepala tak berapa nak betul punya pasal.

Kena pulak beberapa sebelum Krismas tu aku layan pakai topi Santa kat office, dapat a few pre-Christmas gifts and was given a few candies and gingerbreads , what more can I expect? Plus, reminiscing my childhood memories back in the UK and watching Ultraman Ace's "Santa Claus-Ultra Father" episode memang menggembirakan.

Lately I heard that wishing someone 'Merry Christmas' is considered blasphemous to Muslims. Wadefak? Years ago, wearing Santa Claus' costume was also blasphemous and deviating. I can't see the logic in these. I refuse to believe in all these so-called "blasphemy."

Wishing your Christian friends 'Merry Christmas' is like wishing your fellow Muslims 'Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.' Wishing to Christians, okay, not to everybody. I don't see its relation to being deviated from religion just because you are wishing for a friend's felicitations and happiness. Why? Why?

Because these so-called religious police are PARANOID.

I really wanna see, if I do any one of these, would they become apostates?

Aku nak letak topi Santa Claus kat diorang dan suruh diorang mengucap dua kalimah syahadah. Still boleh mengucap dan baca Ayat Kursi kan?

Aku bukannya mengagungkan agama lain. Aku cuma sukakan suasana Krismas. Pakai topi Santa, ucap selamat kat orang Kristian tak bermakna aku ni sebahagian daripada mereka. Aku still Islam.

Macam aku tulis dalam entri Krismas tahun lepas, memang tak dinafikan, suasana Krismas kekadang lagi layan daripada suasana Hari Raya. Hari Raya disambut dengan penuh kesyukuran dan keinsafan, sedangkan Krismas untuk bersuka ria saja. Takde sampai nak puja Jesus Christ dalam gereja semua.

Malas aku tulis semua kemengarutan ni. Buat panas je.

Anyway, Krismas dah lepas dan whoever yang nak kutuk maki aku, I don't give a damn. I believe in what I believe, and still I'm a Muslim.

Hmm.

I just did my 2012 general budget calculation. To my surprise, I might have no savings at all!

Talk about financial obligations.

It is true that an individual should put aside a portion of income into savings, but if one's financial obligations leave the leftovers enough for monthly expenses, how can you save?

Dunia ni semakin mahal. Semua benda nak naik. Itu tak diselaras dengan kadar inflasi lagi. Nak bersara umur 55 tahun kena ada simpanan sekurang-kurangnya RM 1.5 juta kalau mahu hidup selesa. Masa muda ni macam-macam nak buat.

OK, mungkin antara financial obligations tu ialah salah aku sendiri dan kena jelaskan mengikut kontrak. Ya, aku dah serik berhutang. Aku dah rasa perit kewangan negatif tahun lepas. Aku nak make amends with respective sides... PTPTN dan bank. Aku nak aliran wang lancar, takde sangkut-paut.

Nama je seorang eksekutif tapi tak berduit. Kalau macam ni, bila la aku nak kahwin, nak beli rumah semua. Parah. Itu tak masuk belanja dapur, minyak, tol semua... Mana nak tolak untuk savings?

Tapi kalau ikutkan kiraan tadi, tahun depan mungkin aku lega sikit. Aku dah siapkan pelan belanjawan dan kena patuh. Rasanya tak perlu berbelanka sakan tahun depan ya. Berseronok ala kadar cukuplah.

Oh ya, aku demam lagi ni. Nak rest. Esok nak berunding dengan PTPTN.

I was doing some spring cleaning when I found a picture of a girl who wears red glasses. Instantaneously, my mind was taken aback to the past when I last met her at her wedding.

I don't want to talk much about her and will not reveal her name, as mentioned in my previous post on Christmas 2010. Anyway, looking back at her photos made me wonder how she is.

Wherever she is, I wish her all the best and a blissful life. She will always be in my heart.

Edisi REPOST sempena menyambut Tahun Baru Islam Maal Hijrah 1433H

Kalau disebut Malam Satu Suro, secara automatik kita akan terbayang filem seram Indonesia lakonan aktres Suzzanna sebagai Sundel Bolong. Seramlah juga, bila ditonton berseorangan. Tetapi, adakah ramai mengetahui kisah di sebalik malam satu Suro yang kononnya menyeramkan itu?

Dalam kaca mata Islam, bulan Suro atau Muharram (dalam kalendar Jawa) ialah bulan yang mulia, dalam bulan Muharam tersebut berbagai kisah sejarah terjadi seperti selamatnya Nabi Musa as dari kekejaman Fir'aun, selamatnya bahtera Nuh as dan kisah Nabi Yunus as yang juga terselamat keluar dari perut ikan Hiu, serta perkahwinan Rasulullah juga terjadi pada bulan Muharram. Sejarah paling penting yang membawa nama Islam dalam kancah dunia ialah peristiwa Hijrah Rasulullah saw dari Makkah ke Madinah dan menjadi dasar penetapan tahun Hijrah tersebut.

Sayangnya, bulan yang mulia ini telah disalah guna dan disalah ertikan sebahagian besar masyarakat Jawa yang mengaitkan dengan kekeramatan. Mereka lebih mempercayai kalau bulan Suro ialah bulan khusus untuk Nyi Roro Kidul (Ratu Laut Selatan, juga pernah dilakonkan si Suzzanna), bulan perkahwinan diharamkan, keluarnya pontianak, sundel bolong dan pelbagai macam kepercayaan tanpa dasar. Banyak juga ritual bidaah yang menyalahi syariat dilakukan oleh masyarakat Jawa pada malam 1 Suro, ada yang berendam dalam sungai untuk mendapatkan jodoh, bertapa dan mencuci benda-benda yang dianggap keramat.

Inikah yang seharusnya diamalkan oleh masyarakat Islam? Banyak keterangan dalam Qur'an dan Hadith yang memberikan kaifiat dan keistimewaan bulan ini semata-mata keredhaan Allah swt. Perlukah kita menurut sahaja tanpa selidiki makna disebalik keraian seperti yang diamalkan saudara kita di tanah Jawa?

Harus diingatkan betapa besarnya ujian Allah swt terhadap para kekasihNya di bulan itu. Nah, apakah tidak kita hargai pengorbanan dan insafi peristiwa lalu? Apakah kita sudah lengkap sempurna?

Fahamilah betul-betul pengertian bulan Suro itu. Rasanya perkataan Suro itu dipetik dari perkataan "Asyura" iaitu pada 10 Muharram. "Syura" disebut lama-lama jadilah Suro, ikut pelat Jawa. Tak salah menonton filem Malam Satu Suro, tapi jangan cepat melompat ketakutan bilamana bulan Suro disebutkan.

It was a fun night for a week of mental torture and rush.

Jazz has always fascinates me. Having two friends to hang out for our occasional jazz moment was quite good. Drinks and grubs, smoke and beer. The trombone might be blaring but good music always brings cheers and laughter to all.

McDonald's session afterwards was quite sensual as many hotties were under our radar.

I ended up playing PlayStation with my friend, and how silly to have two teams squabbling against each other aimlessly with hilarious effect and stomach-pricking laughter.

Gotta make a move back home. Subang SkyPark is waiting.

It's going to be a sleepless night for me. I have TWO important matches to see tonight. One in Bukit Jalil, one in San Siro. I didn't get the ticket for Harimau Muda vs Syrian Camels but will definitely on live streaming for Rossoneri vs Barca.

There will be snacks, ~~beers~~ drinks and Internet nearby. Twitter will be on for the whole night. Am so glued to TV tonight, if only I could share this frenzy with someone...

Garuda? Burung mitos tu ke? AUMMM!

Aku respect bebudak ni. Sanggup ambik risiko naik bas ke Gelora Bung Karno, pulang hotel naik APC Barracuda. Bermain sepenuh jiwa raga nasionalis di kemelut kebejatan 100,000 penyokong timnas Indonesia. Saling menyerang berantakan, bermain lagak Panthera Tigris Malayensis dan juga Garuda Pancasila. Akhirnya, the best team wins. Malas nak cerita panjang.

Prelude match aku macam-macam perkara aku kaitkan, dari matawang, perempuan, kerajaan lama, sejarah, fakta, zoologi dan sebagainya. Flooded habis Facebook dan Twitter aku. Match ni pun aku layan kat kafe pejabat, half time sempat memecut laju balik rumah dan bersorak sakan di depan TV dengan jersi kuning tu.

So, kita dah menang. Kita berjaya lagi. Bila Baddrol Bakhtiar scored the winning penalty, tangan aku terketar-ketar update Twitter. Nak pecah dada tulis dalam Facebook. Balas SMS member pun macam nak baling je handphone. Gembira sampai keluar air mata!

Dan seperti kebiasaan, banyaklah orang bertanya soalan cepumas: Malaysia menang ni cuti tak?

Baiklah, soalan aku: Perlukah kerajaan memberi cuti di atas kemenangan skuad Bawah 23 Tahun negara mempertahankan pingat emas bola sepak?

Call me tak patriotik, tak sporting, poyo, entah apa-apa, pada aku tak perlulah cuti tu. Malaysia ni dah banyak sangat cuti. Dalam bulan November dan Disember je dah ada tiga hari Isnin yang cuti. Cuti tahunan pun tak habis lagi. Banyak cuti, kurang produktif la maknanya.

Masa menang Piala AFF Suzuki tahun lepas dah dapat cuti. Itu menang piala. Ini menang salah satu acara je. Memanglah kita menang "mother of all gold medals" tapi kita kenalah realistik. Sebetulnya jika cuti pun, adakah kita sebagai rakyat Malaysia layak untuk bercuti atas merit 20 pemain muda negara? Dengan cuti itu, kita nak pergi LCCT sambut diorang ke? Kita nak ke pergi ke Wisma FAM merayakan kemenangan tu? Ada ke kita nak berkerumun dengan ramai orang nak sambut diorang? Jangan tipu, mesti tak akan punya.

Yang layak dapat cuti tu sebenarnya para pemain dan barisan teknikal. Tu pun tak cukup rehat sebab malam ini nak lawan skuad Syria untuk kelayakan Pra-Olimpik 2012 pulak. Diorang tak merungut pun, tak kisah nak minta cuti pun. Diorang cuma nak bermain bola sepenuh jiwa nasionalis.

Nak cuti lagi? Habiskan cuti tahunan tu dulu dan siapkan kerja!

Apa-apa pun, tahniah sekali lagi buat Harimau Muda kerana mengulangi pencapaian cemerlang abang-abang mereka menewaskan Garuda sekali lagi. 11-Sebelas-Eleven in 3D

Today the world celebrates the most anticipated date of the millennium… 11-11-11. My math sucks, so don't ask me numerology or counts on this occurrence. Nevertheless, it was a good day for me.

It was also the day that Malaysia's premier English newspaper, the New Straits Times (NST) made its relaunch with new masthead, typeface, overall content design and approach to reach wider audience and having more international look. And to further enhance the relaunch, today's issue featured anaglyph images or 3D as we know it, in most advertisements and pictures, as well as editorial contents.

I know people are all in awe of NST's 3D experience… but you know what, the pain of creating 3D ads were hard to bear than said. At the creative unit where all 3D ads are designed, designers and us (copywriters) rolled our eyes, adjusting our sights and visions, tracing, constructing anaglyph images layers by layers, scratch to scratch. Head spinning, neck pain, back pain, stress were staple; worse came when clients became fussy, ridiculous comments swirled, unreasonably demanding, being dissatisfied (obviously, they knew nothing about 3D and its technicals) and changes that kept recurring. Grr! The designers got to tag along sales people to explain design technicalities: colour coding, layering and masking, pixelation, resolution, inks and papers used... oh, I wish I could write a manual to assist them.

But when all is well, there came compliments, appreciation and felicitations from our top management. Pours of congratulatory wishes showered us all, and we were treated with feasts and pats on our backs, acknowledging our hardship in producing the first 3D feature in our history. Oh, we truly enjoyed our fruits of labour.

If you got the special 11-11-11 NST, grab them. It came once only. The best thing is, you can keep the free glasses to view 3D mags or films at your leisure. And if you have sharp eyes, try to spot me among these people.

Again, kudos to all designers and sales colleagues who made this happen. It was indeed a special day for all of us at Advertising Department and the whole community of NSTP.

Lately I listen to songs that have melodramatic effects in my current life. My choice of song is not that of Ryan Seacrest by who cares, it is me who enjoy listening to these kinds of songs.

My song of the moment would be a catchy piece by Lenka titled Trouble Is A Friend. Been looking for this song for a while, and after some Internet findings and club recess, it's now in my iPod. There are some others like Adele's, but I just love this song at the moment. Sometimes, this song reminds me how much trouble can be more than a nuisance. And the song is quite catchy with the oh-ohs.

There's a scribble that came across my mind when I was in desperation. I posted it on my Facebook and got some responses and views about it.

Whenever I'm in unstable mood, I tend to write the truth out of my heart. It has to be out.

Here goes:

"Sometimes the canvas reflects colours and art which you didn't wish to design according to your desire. This canvas isn't impressive enough to be exhibited at prestigious events or at established art galleries. How pitiful and sad to see unwanted and obsolete masterpiece. You keep on painting with painful heart and undivided dedication but still fail to impress. Then the canvas is torn; the cycle goes on again and again, failure after failure. The canvas would become a classic once you are gone (lucky enough), but usually be forgotten deep into despair."

1994. Tahun ini aku Tingkatan Satu, tapi aku belajar di Sekolah Tinggi Dorothy Stringer, UK dalam Tahun Ketujuh (Year Seven). Aku baru mengenal dunia lebih luas di Kepulauan British dan benua Eropah. Indah dan tidak ternilai kehidupan ketika itu.

Itu cerita lain. Tahun 1994 juga... tahun gemilang buat AC Milan. Bertemu dengan pasukan favourite pada masa itu, FC Barcelona di Stadium Spyro Louis, Athens pada final Liga Juara-Juara Eropah, pasukan kami menang dengan jumlah gol besar yang tak disangka... 4-0. Empat kosong bai!

Memang power.

Tapi tahun ini mungkin nasib tidak sehebat tahun itu. Milan bungkus awal musim lepas dan Barca jadi juara. Berbekalkan semangat 1994, mampukah Abang Allegri menjana kejutan di Camp Nou seperti Pakcik Capello dulu?

"Last season was a great season, as we won the domestic title and the Italian Super Cup. It was a fantastic campaign with lots of changes – a lot of new players arrived – and we have a great base to start from this season. Okay, the wet market has proven to be the best place for babewatching experience. It was a cloudy morning, and later rained. Glad to get meat and poultry for Raya in time... And some winks, too.

A siesta? Easy. Tag along your dad out and while he is busy with his errands, take a 30-40 minutes' nap with a haircut and wash (facial too, for personal enjoyment) as well as a relaxing head and shoulder massage at a saloon. Sounds good, because it feels good to have yourself pampered and relaxed...

All is done. Let's go home.

Awan Biru Blues

Cahaya pagi di Laut China Selatan agak cerah dengan hamparan awan sirus mencorakkan pemandangan indah. Kelihatan di sebaliknya ialah Pulau Natuna milik Republik Indonesia yang cantik. Di sini, seorang pramugari boleh tahan cantik bernama Mee Ying sedang sibuk menghidangkan makanan kepada sebilangan penumpang yang tidak berpuasa sambil sesekali memastikan rambut sanggul dan mekapnya anggun dan tip top untuk tatapan aku yang dari tadi meliar melihatnya.

Ketika entri ditulis, aku berada dalam tiub besi besar putih bertekanan tinggi buatan sebuah syarikat berpangkalan di Toulouse, Perancis. Tiub ini dimiliki salah sebuah syarikat pengendalian penumpang dan kargo udara kebangsaan yang berprestij.

Macam sial je aku tulis dan huraikan panjang-panjang. Kan senang kalau aku cakap aku sekarang dalam pesawat Malaysia Airlines Airbus A330-200. Nak lagi detail, aku boleh tambah airspeed in knots, waypoints, maklumat perhubungan radio, berapa kilo kerosene dibakar, load factor, serta berapa bilah kipas dalam enjin Pratt & Whitney PW4000 ni.

Aku rasa dalam flight aku tak boleh guna mobile phone. Tapi kalau setakat satu dua rasanya tak ganggu navigation system pesawat, lainlah kalau satu aircraft guna handphone memang huru-hara dibuatnya. Tapi aku degil, nak jugak buat.

Saja bikin kecoh. Yes, I write this entry while in flight tapi aku upload dalam blog bila dah dalam terminal. Dan airline meal yang Mee Ying served memang sedap (ai, musafir ke bang?)

OK lah, nanti cerita lagi. Salam Aidilfitri dan kemerdekaan buat rakan-rakan persekolahan, perkuliahan, pekerjaan; juga kepada bekas-bekas kekasih serta sesiapa saja yang pernah bertakhta di hati; ucapan ini juga dilanjutkan kepada keseluruhan kelab bola sepak AC Milan yang kini berlatih di Milanello dengan ucapan semoga Pakcik Allegri kekal hebat dan kacak sentiasa.

The Siege of Gombak

“There is no lie in a wizard’s eyes. We are a little fortunate. I saw in the palantír a glimpse of the Enemy’s plan. Gorthaur moves to attack Masjid Towers of the other World. He will raze the Masjid Towers to the ground.”

“They must be warned!”

“It would be done, but not by the usual way. Send an envoy to Masjid Towers of the other World; warn Iskandar the Elf-friend to prepare. He will light the beacons to call Kuantan for aid and lead the war.”

Gandalf’s concern on Gorthaur’s movement was mounting. He consulted King Elessar (Aragorn) and the rest of the Fellowship at Minas Tirith. Elurín of Rivendell was sent to the other World to warn Iskandar on the news that would destroy mankind of the other World.

The magnificent city of Masjid Towers was a true marvel of great architecture and prosperity. There stood a big mosque (the Citadel) at the city centre with two great towers, hence the name. As a bastion of the Gombak province, Masjid Towers was a fearful name for Gombak enemies.

Elurín passed through the dimension barrier that separates Middle-Earth and the Other World to Masjid Towers, bearing tidings and counsel.

“Hail Iskandar Elf-friend, the Captain of scholars and the city,” greeted Elurín.

“Mae-govannen [welcome], Elurín of Imladris,” he replied, “What tidings you take to me, my friend; and what are news from the other World?”

“Captain Iskandar, I come with a warning from King Elessar and Gandalf. For the fate of Masjid Towers, this city and Gombak is under threat of Gorthaur’s attack.”

“Sauron is alive? I thought he was destroyed in the War of the Ring that I, indeed were there.”

“This is not Sauron, my friend; but his lesser descendent. Gorthaur has discovered a portal to your World and is marching towards the city. The Enemy is indeed nearing your doorstep.”

“This is an ill-news indeed. I shall raise the alarm and make haste. I’ll ask my lord to prepare for battle and other necessities. Minlû pedich nin, i aur hen telitha [You told me once, this day would come].”

“Ú i vethed, nâ i onnad [This is not the end, it’s the beginning]. The Elves would come to help. The King will send his army as well, Iskandar, to your aid. For the people of Middle-Earth owe you plenty.”

Gorthaur’s army had discovered another path to the other World, as he was blocked from the known access to the Other World. He commanded all troops to attack and burn the city to conquer Gombak, thus will mark the start of world dominion. There were 500,000 soldiers marching to the city. The city was in a verge of one of the biggest battle ever.

Iskandar went to see Lord Kamal Hassan, the Lord of Masjid Towers. He told him about the latest news and pressed for tight security measure and military intervention.

“The city is under peril anytime now, sire. The Enemy is coming. We must muster our armies.”

But Lord Kamal Hassan replied, “But we have not enough men. Even if we muster all men it does not help. Our city is defenceless.”

“We can, my Lord. We have weapons. The enemy is on our doorstep. As a lord you're charged with the defence of the city! Where are our armies? We still have friends. We are not alone in this fight. Send word to Kuantan. Light the Beacons.”

“You think you are wise, Iskandar; yet for all your subtleties, you have not wisdom. Do you think the eyes of the Blue Tower are blind? I have seen more than you know. You worry not about that. I’ll ask from my viziers. The war is upon us. Prepare for battle!”

The news of the coming battle was quickly spread. The city was chaotic. City borders were closely guarded. The armoury was busy at work. Iron-smiths are at work forging weapons. Merchants were busy storing their goods to vaults and ensuring stocks well-supplied during the emergency. The medical centre was well prepared for the war.

Iskandar went into the wild, looking for the dimensional gate that separates both Worlds. He found an Elf, and received new information. He hurriedly went back to the city, bearing ill-news from the Middle Earth.

“My Lord. Gorthaur is progressing. They are nearing our borders about seven leagues away. An elf told me, they are 100,000 armies marching toward us.”

“This is indeed an ill-news. Láthspell I name it. Hurry to the people, form a large battalion. This is time.”

Two days passed without any development on the Enemy. Iskandar received none news from the gatekeeper. The people were wary, but still seek pleasure to light up the city. The soldiers of Masjid Towers were around, guarding and patrolling day and night. The borders were heavily guarded, as visitors or outsiders to the city are questioned and checked thoroughly.

Suddenly, the city became noisy. People from the café district were running eastward. Loud noises were heard, while some were pointing at the beacon tower. At the foot of the tower, Iskandar smiled as he saw the flame kindling upon the tower, and ran to the East, as he saw the second beacon light up in the distance.

“Genting Sempah.”

A soldier shouted: “The Beacon! The Beacon of Genting Sempah is lit!

“Hope is kindled,” Iskandar whispered alone with gleaming eyes of glory.

High on the mountains, the fire went across ragged mountain ranges as life springs into the Beacons of Gombak. Following the line of Beacons, went from one triumphant peak to another, the sun rose and set as it went eastward, until at last, it arrived at Kuantan at the break of day. The Beacons were the most effective way to alarm either sides of Titiwangsa with swift, as from the Beacon Top at Masjid Towers would go to Genting Sempah, then to Lentang, Bentong, Temerloh, Jerantut, Mentakab, Maran, Gambang and at last, the City of Kuantan.

As the final beacon lit, hope came into one of Kuantan’s soldier. Casting a last, glorious look at the burning beacon in the mountains, the soldier sprinted down the hillside in exhilaration, slowing down only to push open the doors of the palace. Inside stand many men and they turned their heads in surprise as a panting soldier stands before them.

“The Beacons of Masjid Towers! The Beacons are lit! Gombak calls for aid.”

The Lord of Kuantan stood firm, he looked at his men. All in the palace were looking at him. Proudly, he spoke:

“And Kuantan will answer! Muster the Kuantanese!

The palace went to carry the order. The Kuantan captain was mustering the army.

“Assemble the army at Mentakab: as many men as can be found. You have two days. On the third, we ride for Gombak. And war. Commander Ali, make haste across Bera. Summon every able-bodied man to Mentakab.”

As his army took post and scrambled, The Lord of Kuantan felt the coming terror in this battle.

“So it is before the walls of Masjid Towers, that the doom of our time will be decided.”

“Now is the hour, March of Kuantan, oaths you have taken! Now, fulfil them all! To Lord and Land!” roared the Captain of Kuantan to the Ride of the Kuantanese.

Gorthaur passed the dimensional gate and ferociously attacked nearby settlements. Border armies fought valiantly, but many fell. People ran and seek refuge at the City.

“We can't hold them! The area is lost.”

“Tell the men to break cover. We ride to Masjid Towers.”

“Pull back! Pull back to Masjid Towers!”

“Retreat! Retreat!”

In a few hours, people of Masjid Towers were receiving refugees from frontier, who were attacked by Gorthaur. The soldiers were ready at their post. Border watchers blew the emergency horn. The Citadel was alarmed.

Iskandar dressed in a blue and silver army coat. He wielded his sword and took an Elven spear named Aiglos. He knew that the Enemy had entered the World and marched to the City. At the Citadel, the Lord of the City was ready to battle with his armoured gear.

The thundering sound of Gorthaur’s army from distance were heard at nightfall.

At night, a surprise came to the City. A strange horn was blown. Border armies informed the Citadel of the coming of an unknown army. As the gate opened, the strange-looking army entered the City, marched to the Citadel and was greeted by the Lord himself. Iskandar was also present.

“This cannot be. Who are you?”

The leader of the corps, an Elf, explained, “I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell from the other World. An alliance once existed between Elves and Men is now rekindled. Together we fought and die together. We come to honour that allegiance.”

Iskandar went straight to the Elf, greeted him, “Mae-govannen, Glorfindel. You are most welcome!” in which Glorfindel replied, “We are proud to fight alongside Men once more.”

The Elven army rested and mingled with the people of the City, albeit for a while. Fair-folk and sundering people they were known, the Elves were ivory-skinned, with pointy ears and their armoury was of great craftsmanship.

Glorfindel and Iskandar went to the Seeing Tower, watching the west. They were looking for Gorthaur’s signs.

“I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen, han mathon ne chae a han noston ned 'wilith. [The world is changed; I can feel it in the water, I can feel it in the earth, I can smell it in the air].”

“I know, my Elf-friend; I feel it too. The hour is darkening.”

“Iskandar, since you returned from the war, many have you learn. You know our language, our custom. You were honoured by the lords. Mithrandir wanted you to take care of your city. Help your aging lord. That’s why we come here. Elven army is proven as you know great, this time it is you who commanded us.”

“Gandalf didn’t mean this would happen to my World. It is ready and I am willing to take charge. The board is set, the pieces are moving. Si peliannen i vâd na dail lîn. Si boe ú-dhannathach [It is already laid before my feet, I cannot falter now].”

“Ae ú-esteliach nad... estelio han. Estelio ammen. Ónen i-estel Edain, ú-chebin estel anim [If you trust nothing else, trust this. Trust us. I gave Hope to the men, I kept none for myself],” as Glorfindel replied, he handed Iskandar his command to charge the Elven army.

Gorthaur’s armies were at the battlefield. The trolls placed huge boulders into the catapults. The catapults were fired as a warning. The people run onto the streets.

The armies of Masjid Towers and the Elves were at their position. Iskandar took charge of the Elven army, while Lord Kamal Hassan charged the City army.

Iskandar gave command, and waited the approaching enemy to see. At last, when everything was ready, Lord Kamal asked Iskandar to prepare both armies. He drew his sword. His sword was given to him from Elrond himself, forged by Elven-smiths long ago in Beleriand. Glaurung was its name, fiery as a dragon’s breath. He went to the front wall and spoke:

“A new power is rising. It's victory is at hand. This day the land will be stained with the blood of our enemies! March to war, leave none alive. To war!”

Then he continued:

“Hold your weapon! Sons of Gombak, and my elven brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of friendship, but it is not this day! An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you, stand, The Great Alliance!”

Gorthaur’s army were approaching the outer wall of the City, and Grond, its Captain, gave orders to lay still until the right moment to strike.

“A Eruchin, ú-dano i faelas a hyn, an uben tanatha le faelas! [Show them no mercy for you shall receive none],” Iskandar fueled the elven and Men’s armies.

As the armies were highly spirited, the battle commenced. Fire boulders exchanged, arrows were flying to its targets. More stones were fired at the enemies. Both sides were on the receiving end. A boulder hit one of the siege towers, and many men fell out of it as it collapsed.

“Tangado a chadad! [Prepare to fire].” Iskandar shouted, and Elven armies were ready to fire. He commanded the fire to the trolls and orcs below, and whenever ready, he charged, “Leithio i philinn! [Fire the arrows].”

The trolls receive a shower of arrows, but one of the siege towers has been pushed close enough and the armies start to enter the city through the walls.

Iskandar hoisted his sword high and shouted, “Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima! [Hail Eärendil brightest of the Stars].” He fought valiantly; he crushed the enemies and killed many. He even contested Glorfindel on his victims’ number.

The Gate of the City was breached, and the Enemy’s armies swarmed in. Soldiers were nearly overrun. Gorthaur’s forces stormed into the City.

“Retreat! The city is breached! Pull back! Get the women and children into the sanctuary! Get them out! Retreat!”

Iskandar heard a horn sounded from the Fields, and he ran to see what happen. Even the enemies on the Fields paused as they watched. On the Fields, just beyond the city of Masjid Towers stand the Kuantanese.

“Ali, take your company down the left flag! Syed, follow the Lord's banner down the centre! Ghapur, take your company right, after you pass the wall! Forth! Down fear of darkness! Arise! Arise, Riders of Kuantan!”

“Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day, a red day, and the sun rises!

“Ride now... Ride now... Ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!”

“Death! Death! Death! March, Kuantanese!”

With the coming of the Kuantanese, Gombak armies were breathing again. Together they fought, both inside and outside the City. Lord Kamal and Lord of Kuantan met, and mustered their armies to sweep the enemies. Iskandar and his elven armies were doing fine inside the city. The fight continued and got exciting.

Well, the story finished with the victory to Masjid Towers. Many Men and Elves fell, but many also survived. Both lords were able to reform their armies and The City was restored. The enemies were killed with no one survived.

Iskandar and his elven armies were victorious. Dead Elves were honoured as their death paved their way to the West. He thanked the Elves and followed them back to Middle Earth, where he met other prominent heroes of the other World.

As for Gorthaur, it was King Elessar and Gandalf who destroyed him. Evil was no longer lingered in Mordor, and it would never rise again.

Masjid Towers remained the strongest bastion of Gombak province till this day. The great war of Gombak ended here.

The Meat Affair

Our family has this tradition of breaking fast at Everly Resort Hotel, Tanjung Kling, Melaka since 2007. We always love this place as the buffet price is affordable and variety of food it offers. The view of the sea is calming and boys would love to see girls swimming in the resort's pool, just outside the cafe.

Last Saturday, I brought my family (sans first brother and sister, who are in Kuching) for this year's buka puasa treat. The cafe, Straits View Cafe hosts a plethora of dishes, ranging from local to Western delights. At certain nights, there are performances; normally classic Malay movies are shown on a giant screen. I have made the reservation, and seated accordingly.

Aneka daging. Pergh, terliur sat.

I'm a meat lover. Mind you, a pasar Ramadan is incomplete, to my rating, if they don't have Donër kebab. Seriously. My locale's pasar has no kebab stalls and I feel disappointed. Kebab is a complete meal... come on!

Well, anyway as a meat lover, I would love to get my plate filled with wondrous meats. I usually chase after grilled mutton, medium-well grilled beef, some chicken and occasionally, veal.

There will be another buka puasa treat for my family at Pullman Kuching, few days before Aidilfitri. This time, the whole family will join.

Dive In, Iskandar!

I am now officially a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Diver.

It never came across my mind to take photos underwater or on surface due to over excitement I had. Even photos at the dive centre and around the island were quite absent this time. Too much water activities and perhaps I was the only student at that time (I was guaranteed to partner an attractive ah moi, but she never showed up!)

Got my essentials weeks before the course, to the extent of getting fins and my own Mares wetsuit. Crazy seahorse me.

Oh yes, I was certified at Salang Bay, Tioman Island, a week before Ramadan. Enough said, the underwater kingdom is surreal! Gosh, I felt like prostrating to God near the reef on the sandy bottom! Subhanallah!

Crash theories, yes. Day and night watching videos, doing quizzes and discussions, and exam. Then, confined + open water trainings for three days... alone! Of course, there comes dizziness and slight vertigo but hey, I'm ready to dive!

Will provide more updates when I feel like writing a lot about my underwater experience. Splash!

The White Temptation

Should I or should I not?

Rasa macam nak angkat iPad 2 White ni. Ambik yang ada Wi-Fi cukuplah, tak perlu nak pakai 3G. Nak 3G, Padme kan ada.

Aku ialah pengguna setia produk Apple. Aku selesa dengan sistem iOS dan perisian Mac OS X sama seperti Microsoft Windows... cuma Apple punya lagi secure. Impian aku sejak bertahun lamanya terlaksana pada Mac lalu dengan pemilikan MacBook White yang aku namakan EMELIA (Encapsulated Machine of Eternal Love, Intelligence and Awesomeness) dan pemilikan iPhone 4 White yang dinamakan Padme, sebulan lalu. So, aku tak perlu angkat iPod dan belum nampak keperluan untuk angkat iMac sebagai desktop computer.

Aku banyak ke sana-sini sekarang. Travel ke luar negeri la, pergi dive trip la, macam-macam... aku rasa aku perlukan a sizable, portable device yang membolehkan aku menulis di mana-mana. Nak bawak EMELIA, berat dan besar. Pakai Padme, kecil sangat. Natijahnya, aku malas menulis bila sampai rumah. Kalau ada iPad, senang aku taip on the spot, sampai rumah sync dengan EMELIA boleh masuk Blogger terus. Kena pulak unit aku sekarang ramai yang dah menganut ajaran Steve Jobs ni, maka aku pun tak mahu ketinggalan.

Tapi aku tak pasti apakah perlu aku angkat atau tidak. Dan mungkin kerana empat sebab ni, mungkin aku berbelah bagi (Sumber daripada iSmashPhone.com).

1) The White is Too Bright and it Distracts from the Main Screen

We grew quite fond of the black bezel of the original iPad. It fit the feel of the MacBook Pro and several of Apple’s other displays, and was just comfortable to look at. But the glossy white surface of this one just sticks out way too much for us and feels kind of distracting. Perhaps it’s something we can get used to, so we will keep trying for a while.

2) Micro Cracks and Scratches Will Fill With Dirt Over Time

Many devices will get tiny scratches on the glass surface. It hasn’t been a problem with our iPad in the past, but sometimes it’s inevitable. Anything that happens on this lighter colored tablet is much more visible as it fills in with dirt and debris. That also applies to the line where the bezel meets the aluminum framing all around the iPad. Sometimes little bits of dust and dirt like to collect right in there. The appearance will only be amplified by the white color scheme.

3) Grime will be Visible Around White Home Button

Okay, let us get one thing straight. We don’t just go around touching everything with dirty hands. Still, hands get dirty. At the airport or on the plane, for instance, we aren’t about to go wash our hands just because we feel like pulling out our iPad. That, coupled with more dust and dirt, actually collects right there around the home button. Anything filling some of those smaller spaces can be extremely difficult to remove. Call us slightly obsessive if you’d like, but we enjoy our gadgets to be as clean as possible in case we ever decide to resell them later.

4) Possible Lower Resale Value

Based on what we’ve seen, we’ve been able to gather that the iPad 2 may have a lower resale value. We aren’t just talking about the dust and dirt mentioned above. We’re looking at what we gathered based on launch. Keep in mind that this is only anecdotal evidence supported by what we saw in our purchase line at Wal-Mart. Like us, many of the others in line wanted the black iPad 2. We didn’t see anyone asking for the white model. Those who did, only chose it when the black option was out. Perhaps people just want to stick with a more familiar color scheme, we don’t know. Still, not nearly as many as we’d expected were interested in a new color.

What this tells us is that it’s very possible that this model will resell for a bit less than the (so far seemingly) more popular black iPad 2. Again, we are saying that there’s nothing official here, and this is just based on our observations at the store. Still, it’s worth considering while making a $500+ purchase.

Well, segalanya terpulang pada aku jugak. Lantak laa orang cakap aku ni brand victim ke, terlalu poyo nak up-to-date ke yang penting I have the money and I can get it, if I choose to get it.

Aku tak fikirkan lagi nama iPad 2 ni. Machines tak jauh, agak-agak boleh beli terus tak?

Keberkatan Ramadan (Repost)

Assalamu'alaikum!

Disebabkan idea belum cukup mencurah untuk menulis, aku naikkan balik entri yang aku buat dua tahun sudah tentang PUASA. Masing-masing ada pengalaman tersendiri, bukan?

Selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa buat semua umat Islam. Hayya 'alal falah!

Ramadhan al-Mubarak ialah bulan keberkatan dan dilimpahi pahala yang berkali-kali ganda oleh ALLAH SWT kepada umatnya. Ibadah puasa Ramadhan adalah wajib dan kaifiatnya amat besar. Masa inilah juga kena upgrade tingkat ketakwaan kita terhadapNya.

Kini bulan Ramadhan menjelma lagi. Ini kali kedua aku mengerjakan ibadah puasa bersama isteri dan juga di NSTP. Ini bermakna lebih banyak cabaran dan dugaan datang tanpa diketuai iblis dan syaitan yang mengambil cuti mandatori sebulan.

Agaknya iblis laknatullah dan sekalian syaitan nirrojim berkata, "Lantak koranglah anak-anak Adam, kitorang tak usik langsung. Korang tak solat ke, terlebih beli juadah buka puasa ke, tertonjol biji mata tengok perempuan seksi ke apa ke bukan kes kami ye. Kami on annual leave. Takde kat dunia ni. Penat tau goda korang ni. Lu pikirlah sendiri," sambil mengajuk si Nabil bercakap. Masa puasa semakin hampir, banyak emel berunsurkan agama disebarkan, termasuk poster tiket penerbangan iblis dan syaitan ni bercuti sebulan. Sungguh menginsafkan.

Itulah dia. Bila Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja mengumumkan tarikh permulaan puasa bagi negeri-negeri seluruh Malaysia, panjatkanlah syukur alhamdulillah tujuh kali, takbir tiga kali diikuti doa permulaan puasa. Lepas Isyak terus kerjakan solat tarawikh. Ini tak, dahlah sekali harung malam merdeka, ada yang berjoli katak lagi. Macam-macam jemputan aku dapat, ada celebration kat kelablah, parti di kondo, macam-macam. Bila aku tengok gambar diorang pergi function tu, subhanallah... rosak habis kengkawan aku. Siap ada teguk beer lagi. Nak puasa dah tu. Merdeka konon.

Satu benda yang amat aku suka tentang Ramadhan ni ialah pasar juadahnya yang beraneka jenis dan ragam itu. Walaupun pasar Ramadhan di kawasan rumahku di Seksyen 18, Shah Alam waima di Bangsar dekat pejabatku, tetapi still tak boleh lawan pasar Ramadhan di Jalan Satok, Kuching tanah tumpah darahku itu. Aku amat merindui tapai, mi kolok, laksa Sarawak, ikan parek tunok (pari bakar), ayam panggang dan kuih celorot. Kalau aku balik Kuching inilah yang aku beli hari-hari. Kat Tanah Malaya ni aku berbuka dengan kebab. Kena ada, selain kurma. Tak kisahlah kurma Yusof Taiyoob ke, Yusof Haslam ke janji kurma. Pastu, kena pulak dengan bandung cincau... memang syok habislah. Dulu masa aku study kat UIAM, petang-petang mesti pergi pasar Ramadhan belakang dewan besar tu. Bukan sekadar membeli-belah, tetapi menjamu mata sekali. Pernah sekali aku beli karipap, aku tanya makcik penjual yang asyik jaja karipap dia sedap sangat, "Sedap ke karipap ni cik?" Terus makcik tu cakap, "Sedap nak, try la mesti beli punya." Punyalah bodoh bahalol soh chai aku ni boleh pulak aku makan secara terang-terangan tanpa kusedari... sampailah aku perasan makcik tu terlopong seraya bertanya, "Adik ni tak puasa ke?" dan dengan sekelip mata aku "Errkk!!!" dan terus membuka langkah seratus ribu. Malu.

Dalam masa kita mengerjakan ibadah ni jugak banyak kerja datang bertimbun. Aku antara mangsa sebenarnya. Banyak kerja-kerja berkaitan pengiklanan yang harus dibuat. Kepala otak dah kering kreativiti dan penurunan produktiviti amat ketara sekali. Bos sudah panggil briefing macam-macam projek yang perlu disiapkan dalam masa kurang 5 hari. Itu tak termasuk kerja-kerja menterjemah, menulis iklan dan membaca pruf. Workload bersusun sampaikan aku dan rakan sekerja kena kerja sepanjang weekend ni. Tak apa, boleh claim overtime. Time buka puasa, boleh terus ke surau sambil menikmati hidangan yang disediakan. Boleh solat berjemaah terus. Kebiasaannya, aku mencari makanan di Bangsar dan berbuka di pejabat sambil bekerja. Lepas Maghrib aku menunaikan Haji Marlboro pulak. Jadi aku boleh jimatkan masa dan balik awal.

Puasa di pejabat yang majoritinya orang Islam mudah sebenarnya. Persekitaran banyak mempengaruhi kita. Masa break tengah hari aku dan Ross tetap ke gym seperti biasa. Buat latihan dan senaman ringan seperti angkat berat, tekan tubi dan kardiovaskular. Badan kena jaga. Dulu khabar-khabarnya wujud 'Ramadhan Cafe'. Bila dirisik-risik rupanya ianya port untuk orang yang tak puasa! Astagfirullahal`aziim... bapak-bapak budak tak reti puasa ke? Tapi sejak kebelakangan ni kafe tu sudah tidak wujud lagi, dah kena serbu agaknya.

Pada aku, walaupun pelbagai pengalaman dan memori Ramadhan dilalui dan dirindui, yang penting keberkatannya itu harus diselami. Aku berdoa semoga kita semua bersama mendapat limpahan pahala dan bertambah taqwa terhadap Allah. Selamat menunaikan ibadat puasa dan berbelanjalah berpada-pada.

Taking Steps into Writing

Hullo-tom-bombadillo!

Gosh, I haven't write much these days! I read, I think but I never bother to jot down every detail. Everything is 'written' into my newly acquired iPhone 4 (which I named Padme, there will be a story on it).

Yeah, I realized that my writing skill is rusty. I have hard times to think and write; sources are always there to inspire. But there are times when you just can't write. There are also times where you simply feel not to write at all. I am starting to feel ti become my own victim of complacency and laziness.

Tight schedule? Not really. In fact, I could write hundreds of short articles on many subjects these three weeks. No ideas? I have lots of ideas. Lack of spirit? Perhaps, this is it. Spent most of my times with family and friends, shopping, snapping photos and planning for vacations as well as sparking flirts across girls could affect my spirit. My energy is channelled to other needs, I think. I haven't had sex for a long time. I think I need a partner. Hahaha. Just kidding.

To sit and write require efforts and rituals. I used to take a shot of scotch to kick start, but being sober I no longer need that. I must have my puffs. I must have coffee. I must tuned to smooth music because pop could make me jump. I need to concentrate. I need to prepare stuff to write beforehand; charts, graphics or anecdotes to support my entries.

Sometimes, even these couldn't help me to write.

I used to write short stories at school. I used to draw comic strips. I am adept of altering storyline to better suit mine's. I used to write exciting entries (even explicit ones) that were well-criticized. I am losing the touch. I need the torch to find the missing touch.

Oh yes, in this midst yet I'm happy for some reasons. I found a new friend, cheeky and ever be there for me to do many things and to quarrel intellectually. I have a new son named Dylus The Croc, much to the delight of my elder son, Crocchy The Croc. I got my white Padme, bla bla bla… and the list goes longer than I planned.

Sorry for being so preposterous. See, this in fact is a beginning to write more entries for this month! Hallelujah!

Wear Like The Champions

Being a loyal supporter (or tifosi in Italian) is quite incomplete without donning the shirt of the champions, the other being at the holy ground of the team themselves. RS Iskandar has the story.

very time you wear your favourite team's shirt, you can declare to all that how proud you are to be a part of the champions without ever playing a single minute as an outfield player.

Mind you, I am not in any way a Manchester United fan. I don't hate them but simply dislike them. What an overrated team, just like the English national football team. Enough said.

The newly crowned champions of Serie A TIM (the top tier of the Italian Football League) of season 2010-11 are AC Milan, better known as Milan. The 18th championship (scudetto in Italian) tied them at par with their cross-town rival, Internazionale Milano (or Inter for short). Both teams, along with Juventus, are among Europe's strongest club football teams, and are also well recognized internationally. Milan have coveted most international titles, earning them the rights to proudly display the slogan "il club più titolato al mondo" (the most successful club in the world) under their crest on their shirts. In addition, Milan is the only European team to adorn the UEFA Badge of Honours in all competitions, having won the top European club championship (the UEFA Champions League) seven times. Unlike champions of other leagues, the Italian champions instead sport a small shield, known as scudetto to signify their previous year’s victory. In England, for example, Premier League champions will adorn golden league patches, in contrast to normal white patches to distinct themselves from their opponents.

As usual, nearing the end of the season, I would be hovering the Net for news and images of what the new shirt for the next season would look like. There would be many leaked photos and designs, as well as rumours. As the end grew near, I stumbled upon what would be the confirmed design of Milan's new home shirt (la maglia casa). The news came from a reputable source, KitKross.

According to Milan's official website, the official launch of the new home shirt will be made during the Adidas Italia week. And when the launching was published, I said to myself that I must grab this shirt before counterfeiters could even get them sold here. So I made my move to Milan Store to order my champions' shirt.

Last season's strip was a such a hit that I almost missed it. Still looking for the TECHFIT™ PowerWEB version though. So, I must get this one customized. In addition to the strip, I added the Serie A TIM patch, the UEFA Badge of Honours, the club's slogan and a name set… which I put my name (3 ISKANDAR). The shirt itself came with the affixed scudetto patch at the centre, signifying their league crown victory. The complete shirt cost me approximately RM 610.00 including shipping charges and delivery by United Parcel Service (UPS). The purchase was done on Thursday morning and I expected five days of delivery.

Or so it seemed.

26 May 2011, 1056 hrs

The consignment (il consegna della milano, as I called it) is out of the warehouse and ready for delivery. The warehouse is at Milan, but obviously not at Milanello, San Siro or the Via Filippo Turati headquarters. I received a notification email on this matter from Milan Store.

Il Consegna reaches Signor UPS' northern Italian facility at Bergamo for scanning and delivery. It's gonna be out of Italia very soon.

Tired of being scanned, il consegna is now thrown to Herr UPS' European port at Köln, Deutschland (that's Cologne, Germany, folks!)

27 May 2011, 2316 hrs

After a night of anxious sleep, il consegna arrives at Shenzhen, China for further handling. Too much hands and laser scans. Can't wait for it already.

29 May 2011, 0900 hrs

Encik UPS Malaysia has il consegna scanned, molested and checked at UPS Sepang facility. Come to ay papi!

30 May 2011, 1042 hrs

The lovely Miss Raudah of NSTP Mail Room has signed il consegna from Abang UPS. The shirt is now at my office.

I was on leave that day. I woke up to track il consegna as I knew the last location was in Sepang. It was like an unbelievable deception to eyes when I saw the delivery status: DELIVERED. I blinked twice and all came to my senses that il consegna is indeed at my office, waiting to meet its rightful owner. Four days, all the way from Italy… and only time and distance separated us (I was in Kuantan that day). I immediately called my colleague and instructed him to keep il consegna as I will come later to collect it. I told nothing of il consegna and promised to make and official presentation on Wednesday.

Later that day, my brother and me made a stop to collect il consegna at office en route to Melaka. I can't contain the excitement and almost leaked the packaging. I kept it intact and thanking my colleague. Upon reaching Melaka, I got Kyoko (my Canon G12 camera) ready to snap every moment that will happen. And the moment came…

Belissimo grande! I was speechless upon seeing and caressing the shirt. I officially became the first Milanista in Malaysia to own and wear the fully customized new Milan shirt! I was so happy!

Presenting the new Adidas AC Milan SS Home Shirt 2011-12 in S size. The version I purchased, is of course not the player's version, but an official replica of the player's version. It's quite difficult to find a player's version, as the manufacturer directly supplies players’ kits. The other way to tell this (in this case, Adidas), is the label. And as promised, I wore this shirt on Wednesday as my presentazioni ufficiale to positive response and awe, as they always love to see original stuff from overseas, as usual. At the end of day, I managed to get my friend, Jann Jayeff for a mini photo shoot at our office.

I now have 10 Milan shirts from various seasons, tallying the estimated cost of RM 2,500. Good money if I ought to sell them, but no bids or offers accepted. I treasure them greatly like national artefacts.

Now, I'll wait for the away shirt, which would be launched anytime soon. Leaked photos for both away and third kit are already circling around the Net.
